Because of the way the sun rises and the light hits at different heights. If the earth's surface was flat and not curved the light would hit both points in space at the same time. Try rotating a light around an orange and a ceramic tile and you will see the difference.

So do 's experiment and show us how you have to move the flash light to make the same behavior we see in the sky in real life. Then also explain how a location on the FE can have a constellation straight up in the sky at early morning when it's still dark and another location have that same constellation below the horizon at the beginning of the night darkness. These locations would be in different time zones so the local time will differ but the measurements would be happening at the same time. How can the constellation be in two apparent places at once? Explain and show your work.
