And admit if you nodded off even for a minute. We all do.

When I was a teenager, I went on an overseas trip and had trouble finding transportation. I worried I'd get robbed if I fell asleep, so I stayed awake for around 60 hours. It was an interesting experience. After a while, you start to dream while you are still awake, and you see your dreams as hallucinations projected in front of you. Your body just says at some point, "Fuck it, you're dreaming."

Once, also as a teenager, unloading boxcars full of 100 pound bags of sugar by hand in July, I went home and slept for over 12 hours without even turning over. I just lay in the same place on my back for that whole time.

That's fucking cool as shit! I'm going to try that, I'd love to dream while being awake. The unloading box cars no thanks, too old for that!

72 hours awake more than 3 times in my life. Once was Marine Corps Boot Camp, the other 2 were Ritalin induced.

Longest awake was 60 hours ish. after a few weeks of sleeping 3-5 hours a night. When I finally got to sleep I closed my eyes and my brain was vibrating and all I could see was orange.

After exams and final projects were done. I slept hard. But it wasn't long continuous sleep. It was a week and a half to recover with a lot of laying in bed doing nothing and middle of the night walks. I imagine it is what being depressed is like... just with out the depression... I was pretty happy.

all for a fucking arts degree...

Stayed awake about 60 hours. Did not nod off even for a second. Not sure what was up with me. Wasn’t drinking or eating a bunch of caffeine. I was 19 at the time.

Longest I slept I think was about 20 hours. Can’t remember why. But I know I fell asleep around 6:00pm and slept black out solid until 2:00pm the following day. Neither drugs nor alcohol were involved. Happened in my late 20s.

Testosterone my man when I was 19 I was ripe with the shit. I ate and worked out constantly. I was up for 4 days 48 hours 30 minutes of sleep an then 47 hours. I would sit their watch anime for a few hours get on my bench press do 100 reps with 85 lbs ( its all I had.) Ocassionally shitting and eating and talking to my gf on the phone ( it was summer break) it was weird walking out and seeing my parents asleep. I'd shrug make a sammich pet my cats go back to my room to workout more. I miss being muscular...I should really start working out again.

With drugs involved i really couldnt say for sure, those years are very unclear. But without drugs the longest ive slept straight was 14 hours or so, when i showed up to work just after kicking a flu. But i somewhat regularly end up being awake 24-36 hours straight, or more, due to my job, so i figure sleeping 14+ on the clock once was well deserved. Im usually a 5-6 hours of sleep guy, tops. Seems to be all i need.

54 hours awake with a literal 30 second nap at hour 42 (it was a challenge to stay awake)

23 hours asleep with a couple bathroom breaks I'm told. All I know is I went to bed at 4pm one day and regained consciousness at 3pm the next

I went four days without sleep when i was over seas while in the Marines. The first 48 hours was a okay, i'd been up 2 days straight lots of times even pushed it in to day 3 a few times as well. There is a point after the 50 hour mark were there is a noticeable difference and it wasn't until hour 60 or so when I knew shit wasnt going to be going well soon. The hallucinations started about the 70 hour mark and all i can say is thank god they were obvious hallucinations, and the upside was that they started while there was still a lot of day light left. The things i remember the most are the Numb tingles and the agitation that came with all the restlessness. Call it a 3rd or 5th wind or what ever but as long as i was eating a drinking a little the whole time. Chow was all ways a constant, something to chew when youre not moving for a bit. But fear is a mother fucking motivator like non other and by the time we could relax it was jus shy under 96 hours. I wasnt right for days after, none of us were. I have brown eyes, had them all my life but after that i had blue eyes for about a month, now i just have one blue streak in one eye. Good times.

I'd say that comes close to being one of the most bizarre things I've ever heard.

[–] 1 pt

Holy shit! The thing about eye colors... damng

I was a latchkey kid who trained coder, sleep for me, was plentiful but it was useless to me.

I can confirm the hallucinations start around day 2, more like wobblies than full on halluc, trippiness. Thats when you feel very tried and really need sleep.

Sober, I've stayed awake more than 72 hours, but not for a long time. I used to be able to pull a "double-day", where I just stayed up, went to work again, and didnt sleep until the 2nd night. I cant do that anymore, which I attribute to age. Probably for the best. I sleep everynight now.

On meth, during the 1 year that I was doing it, and never did it again btw.... I stayed awake over 4 days, and I am pretty sure I slept for at least 2 when I finally came down. All that on NO FOOD. Meth is bad for you, dont try it. Its super fun, but it tears you apart. I got lucky, most do not return.

The best sleep, like ardvarcus has said, is after hard labor work. Happy, contented sleep. Chop down some trees, build a shed, you'll feel better tmw.
