Every journeyman license I've taken will only tell you your score if you fail. Can't have any electrical contractors hiring based on merit. It works out well for me though, I have test anxiety and choke when I'm trying to card up in a new state. I'm stupid good at electrical work, I'm about to get a promotion from foreman of almost 30 guys to project manager but I've failed some journeyman tests and had to take the masters 4 times.

I miss using my tools, I got stuffed in an office with an iPad and computer, this shit is annoying.

Gods I hate unions.

They were a good thing once upon a time but they've outlived their usefulness

I think they potentially could be a good thing in general provided none of them are ever awarded any kind of monopoly.

Fraternal societies used to be very useful social organisations, they were basically like those jewish self-help groups except for whites. Each chapter was a tight knit community providing it's members with income insurance, life insurance, health insurance etc. The tight knit part and the ethnic homogeneity kept members from welfare whoring. If there was a massive disaster a chapter couldn't handle, like a mine collapse killing half it's members, the other chapters stepped in to help, but in general things were organised at as local a level as possible.

I'd love to see something like that again, but I know if anyone tried to start one it'd be criminalised asap.

managing people is a bitch. I used to hire a new helper every week. Fucking guys cant show up every day and when they do they think its a right to get high before work. On two different occasions some asshole wanted to fight me because I wouldnt let them get high in my van! Another guy got pissed because I drove right by his dealers house on the way home and wouldnt stop. I told him to score drugs in his car on his time.

I got a call last week from one of the other trade's foreman who told me he went into a unit and it stank like weed. He's cool and didn't bring it up to anyone else. Called the little bastards up to my office trailer and sure as shit they smelled like a Cypress Hill concert. Tell them to go home and one is so stoned he thinks I'm firing him. I explained that I'm not firing them but they aren't welcome on site like that. They've been super productive, apologetic and thankful since.

It's like the late ones that keep pushing it, about once a month I randomly pick a day and send everyone home who's even 1 minute late. Little fuckers always confuse kindness with weakness.

Holy shit, how did they not get fired from shit like that?

Just be careful you don't end up being promoted into a position you suck at and can't get back down to where you were last useful.

I'm going back to contracting hopefully, I was happier in my life working for myself. I need to see what happens with our new communist dictator before I make my next move.

I'm with you on that happiness part. Hours are longer but it just seems to be so much more rewarding.
