In _The Prince_, Machiavelli specifically recommends politicians lie to get elected because once elected the voters have no recourse. Every swamp rat knows this. Also, the state runs the courts you would be using to challenge the state; the house always wins.

Rule #9 in subsection mm deals with this.
In addition rule 2.23 and 5.56 also deal with it.
If you really want to put a dent in the matter you'll go with rule 50, it's quite a big rule. If it's too complicated you may like rule 40 and 45.
