Easy enough request. I'm not versed in good leather boots but need a pair.

Situation:

SHTF. I would like boots that could: stay warm during winter months in the north + water proof + ice resistant + leather is an absolute must.

is suggesting Hiking Boots which seems better.

Overall general use.

Like I need a new pair of boots for if a SHTF type situation were to arise.

Steel toe would be good? But may be too restrictive.

if it is SHTF go for hiking boots, which are really, really different from work boots.

No, there are plenty of good brands out there.

Just go for something expensive, and with a pretty high top.

If SHTF, you really only have one chance to buy them, so don't jew yourself.

Should go steel toe. They make a good weapon if you've ever kicked a football.
