The point here is to deprive big tech globocorps of your business, and therefore the data they use to track you, and therefore their ability to easily find and damage you. Google, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, etc cannot track you or ban you if you do not use their services.
Does it solve all the world's problems? No. But it's a step in the right direction.

Ultimately, you cannot coexist with people who want you dead. That's why none of these "build your own" measures work for very long.
Walking away is pointless, unless you give them reason not to follow, and take measures to make sure they stay out.
Everything short of this is just a temporary workaround, to survive a little longer while while in occupied and hostile territory.
