Ultimately, you cannot coexist with people who want you dead. That's why none of these "build your own" measures work for very long. Walking away is pointless, unless you give them reason not to follow, and take measures to make sure they stay out. Everything short of this is just a temporary workaround, to survive a little longer while while in occupied and hostile territory.
