I'm a Brit and we sort of did it with BREXIT. It took years and many threats were made but from Jan 1st 2021 we were out. In the US it seems like a logical path for those who want to not live in a banana republic.

I agree with your sentiment, but the EU was only a few decades old and viewed as a pragmatic economic and bureaucratic alliance. The US unfortunately turned its “Union” into something literally referred to as “sacred” the first time secession was attempted back in 1861. It’s only grown worse since then. Just read the Pledge of Allegiance - “One Nation under God, indivisible.” They aren’t fucking around with that sort of mystical rhetoric bullshit.
