In practice, however, this proves more difficult, because USA Inc., as you put it, will likely fail to recognize the divorce, much like a sadistic wife, and will pursue a three pronged attack: demonization - claiming the abused state is actually the abuser, seduction - offering incentives to the people of the state to resist the decision to withdraw, and aggression - mounting a series of offensives meant to initially demoralize but ultimately defeat and even destroy the state if they refuse to remain.

I'm a Brit and we sort of did it with BREXIT. It took years and many threats were made but from Jan 1st 2021 we were out. In the US it seems like a logical path for those who want to not live in a banana republic.
