Voat is closed. Why is Putt leaving the Voat shutdown page up? Wouldn't he just close it all down? Why would he pay servers to keep that up when he was supposedly closing Voat for financial reasons? Like shutting down at noon on Christmas, this seems like a big fuck you to Voat users . . .

You can swap hosts. There's some that for the price of a coffee a month you can either host a landing page or save a wakandite.

running a single page message site is much cheaper than running a full site, he can probably do that

The site might be shutdown, but the domain registration is going to still be active. It will cost very little to run a static page.

Usually, these are yearly contracts where you can add and remove features on the fly without penalty if the contract remains open.
