Making a decision on my first rifle and have it narrowed down to these 2.

I'm leaning toward the Rugar but I really like the reliability Springfield is known for.

Yes I know good luck finding them but when I do I am buying it.

I would like to mention that I am a beginner but not a novice when it comes to firearms. I have shot plenty of times and have been trained in gun safety, but never owned my own.

Thanks for anyone taking the time to answer.

I own and love a mini, but the older models have a gas block and gas port flaw that results in lateral exhaust discharge if not perfectly fitted. It greatly impacts the weapon accuracy and requires a very skilled and knowledgable gunsmith to adjust it properly. I believe the newer models may have corrected this flaw, but the debate goes back and forth if the correction was very effective.

An M1A is a great weapon, but would not be effective in running battles due to loading issues.

Honestly, a milspec AR-15 really is your best budget rifle. You can always upgrade it over time if you choose very cheaply.
