I don't know it's investing at this point, more panic-buying. I can't see how the prices go down or the supply comes back to normal in the foreseeable future though. Right now you can still get hunting rounds and if you are lucky some 50 cent a round 556. Depending on the next month I wouldn't be surprised to see even hunting rounds clear the shelves.
I was on a road trip and found only random hunting and .12g rounds. Buying now is not a real good option unless you want to keep in practice.
Prices may continue to go up, but people's money supply is draining, and so to their bartering power.
Storable food is a good supply to barter with, I grabbed a few year supply of the emergency foods while it was more affordable and am glad I did. Very good bartering stock.
