They were there to be let into the capitol and act a fool and be used as evidence as to why we need more authoritarian measures against white people on the right. Period.

In the long run i dont think it makes a difference the more authoritarian measures were coming either way. They dont care about your consent or how you feel about it mostly because no one will oppose them because the optics are bad to oppose them.

I doubt that even. The pace has been planned for a long time. Acceleration is probably the only way out though.
