I see posts with 80 comments and 10 votes. The whole no down voting thing is retarded, but there also seems to be a problem with up voting as well. As I understand it, it is make Poal less of an echo chamber. Then why fucking have them ar all? Just make this a lawless shithole like the chans. Where we have to read every shit post and hope the next one is better.

People come to places that allow them to vote because it is peer reviewed content. I don't want to go through new all the time. I want what everyone thinks is best up front, and I want the option to sort by worst to best to see what the jews and faggots posted. I want people to know what they posted was retarded and I want people to have an easy way to tell them they are retarded without having to make a whole explanation. Receiving lots of downvotes is more likely to convince someone that they are retarded more than some long faggoty explanation. It's even better when you get them both.

If there is no response that I accept as a good reason not to, I will begin issuing up votes AND down votes freely whenever I like or dislike a post. That is why they exist on every website that offers them and that is how I will be using them. (If your comment gets a down vote and no reply then it was probably me)

Edit: One hour has passed since posting this and I got 4 up votes, 1 down vote (thank you), and 25 comments. Fuck you guys. If you have time to comment you have time to vote. I don't care which way, just fucking vote.

On Voat people used downvotes to suppress opinions and users they don't like; Poal's attitude towards downvotes is partly a response to how it was used on Voat.

No, a post with 3 upvotes you don't like would become a post with 2 votes and be lower in hot. Downvotes still work, as I replied to someone else. Also, you ignored my other point about how Voat users tended to suppress opposing opinions. Final Wave ex-goats always seem to ignore Voat's echo chamber tendencies when complaining about Poal being an echo chamber.

My point is that all websites that offer the option to vote on content are echo chambers by design. We come here so we don't have to sort through all the bullshit. I am glad shitty opinions get oppressed. If everyone on here turns out to be a faggot and down votes my shit then I will just go somewhere else. I don't post nigger and jew shit (or anything for that matter) to reddit because it's full of faggots.

I don't follow. Does downvoting actually have a mechanic coded into the website that penalizes or otherwise affects a user? I understand the points about people replying instead of downvoting.

Downvoting is for faggots who care about internet points and spam ("OOO, I'm gonna get this guy by taking away one of his meaningless internet points!"). I upvote great content all the time, but most of the voat fags don't upvote. Before you say it, the only reason there were so many upvotes on voat posts was because the userbase was much larger. If everyone on voat used the upvoat for good discussion or great content the votes would be many time higher.

Also, one of the main reasons not to downvote is because you're forced to either articulate your disagreement or move on. That's in the spirit of free speech.

im new. settling in. seems like lots of content. some generic and not politically relevant. also defaults to new. the interface might be too busy. im not sure what it is.

just adding to the dialogue. no upvoat farming here. and i think people are trying to find the problem when its a bunch of micro problems. boxes are too big for the font. is it something i can change? maybe. will most people try to bother and just leave? yes.
