I'm (a) always ahead of the curve and (b) never willing to sacrifice a freedom for security.

When the news was still in China (6 weeks before the US media picked up on it), I was already prepping for a voluntary period of isolation. We made plans for family, provisions, for working remote, for keeping our kids out of their school, etc. The initial reports from SK and TW were very negative so we planned for the worst. We were going into isolation while the gov't was still in denial.

Once it was clear the mortality rate wasn't as high as first reported by TW and SK, then we let up and started resuming our normal life. Again, while the gov't as still in 'crisis mode', we were back to normal.

Point being - the gov't is always going to be late and reactionary. If you wait for policy change, you are doomed.

So - would I self isolate? Yes. Would I get a vaccine? Yes. Would I support 'good things' being mandatory? Absolutely not.

I did this too. Got all my extended family to get provisions or starve. By the time the shelves were empty we were good for 3 months food, fuel and water wise. Its so fucked that people pay insurance for everything yet don't take basic precautions when a threat is apparrent.
