Got hooked on spades in county, graduated to pinochle, but disliked skill with lack of variety in gameplay though bidding according to spread is cool. Finally tackling bridge, which is fucking sweet, but logistics of scoring I'm still trying to get, but I'm only a day in.

Thoughts, pointers, seeking a partner?

I never learned how to play bridge, but I'm a kick ass canasta player from way way back.

My mother still plays bridge every day online with her Florida ladies.

The competition is quite fierce as I understand it.

We modified our own house rules to turn it into an action packed, edge of your seat tension sort of affair with explosive moments of thrill and agony:) Far better than the official rules.

Canasta is one of the best games of all when you are playing with four skilled and serious players. Intense is the word. Hanging on every card played. Every card matters. You have to count them all and you play with two full decks including the jokers.

What I like most about it is you can be losing very badly and still come back and win in the end. The game can swing wildly. Nothing is certain.

Also, you can play for hours on end and maintain interest in the game easily for an entire night. It's a good game for long winters.

Very nice. I like games of wild unpredictability, guess same can be said of spades/pinochle or bridge though I'm a newb. Or the 5,000 year old +(https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Game_of_Ur) which I built a cardboard replica of. Played it the other day with my cousin
