Not sure why I was tagged here but if ever you are using the words starving someone I would say it's abuse. Especially for 10 days like you previously posted.
Now if she is using those terms and being dramatic that's another story. Say if you said "this is what's for dinner, eat it or don't eat" or "I'm not making you lunch, you can make it yourself" those are acceptable things and not starvation.
I don't make food a battle as much as I can, that leads to eating problems more than making food a fight or a big deal.
If some one is worried about a child being fat they should look at their own diet first, the problem probably lies with the parent. If the parent changed their diet that will go a long way in helping the child.
