Posts critical of Trump are downvoted on , an hour old post with (+3 | -6) is already on the third page: https://poal.co/s/Politics/242360, for reference there are 3-4 hour old posts with a score below 5 on the first page.

There is an element of truth to it and is worth discussing beyond the lazy "this news org is kiked" arguments, it's definitely not spam.

If the algorithm doesn't attempt to guess if downvotes are legitimate before mods take action then most posts will get the voat treatment.

It would be cool if we had an additional "I disagree." button that only showed the number of people clicked it and had no other affect. It would give users who feel slighted by opinions a less disruptive option.

What do you think of the response button in the Unz Review comment section? It has various options for leaving a one-word response to another user as an alternative to a full comment reply: "agree", "disagree", "troll", "LOL", "thanks".

That is interesting, I imagine it cuts down on one word responses quite a bit.

I think it works pretty well on Unz, but I'm not sure how it would translate to a reddit-type site.

Here's an example: https://www.unz.com/pgiraldi/a-new-war-in-the-new-year-trump-again-takes-aim-at-iran/#comment-4375735

Of course on Unz, it's only available as a response to a comment, not to the original article.

If you are unable to explain why you disagree, the button alone is meaningless.

That's the point. The button effectively would do nothing. Just direct clicks away from the down-vote button that actually causes harm to the discussion.
