Fair enough. You’re more reasonable than most who just say LOL DA VOAT USERS WERE DOWNVOTING. My nuke had 0 to do with downvoting. It all started when I saw an account at level 0 with the mark that was like 15 minutes old. The SB mark. He had done 0/0. He never upvoted or downvoted one thing. This was proof that the notion “the algorithm automatically nukes accounts for downvoting” which was said verbatim in the fightknightHERO thread which was like 280 comments long was a lie. When somebody who deserves it gets nuked AOU will sticks his own comment to the top and explain. You can see this in the case of New-Age-Ebola who downvoted 25 times in 3 minutes which is justified so he commented immediately. He did this in the case of FightknightHERO which was sketchy because he wasn’t a big downvoter at all. At the time of that thread I was on the fence. For me though I hadn’t downvoted anything in days. Not one thing. What did happen is he saw my thread when he woke up due to pings, didn’t like me calling him out and catching him, named my original thread “fake news” and then nuked me. Manually. No reason given. And then he refused to reply to my thread. The top comment of my second thread is literally a native of this website asking for clarity saying “if we don’t get an answer this will be sketchy.” He then edits his comment to say “well you didn’t reply so I guess you have nothing to say.” It’s mod discresion dude. He hates people from voat even though I never downvoted and I never caused problems other than calling out an admin lying and that was the reason for my nuking.
OK. I read through as much of the linked thread as seemed germane to the SB tag subject. (I skipped past a bunch of Aether and Ruqqus comments.) I even followed other linked threads but a lot of it was repetitive.
It seems plausible that certain accounts were 'nuked' without cause, or much of it. That is indeed disheartening. I'm a fan of not using the DV as a way to disagree and it's helped Poal become a place where comments stayed on the main page even if they weren't expressing popular opinions. Perhaps a clearer definition of what constitutes SPAM here would be good. (I suggested that already so I won't PING the admins about it here.)
Let me reach out to a few folks here and see what's what. It might not be until tomorrow before I get back to you because I'm supposed to head out to have dinner with a bunch of friends. Stay tuned.
That’s the thing though. It has nothing to do with downvoting. This was proven in the case of my account which had not downvoted a single thing in days when I was nuked. They lied that the algorithm was automatic. They lied that is was downvote based. I was not nuked when I went to sleep after posting my first thread that i made when I saw a user with 0/0 get marked with SB. I woke up to a nuked account. Never had an alt, had not made one downvote in days and especially not since making those threads. This proves: it is not automatic and is not caused by downvoting. That’s my entire point. It is not caused by downvoting. It is caused by the mods clicking a button. They could do it to you right now. I see numerous accounts with horrible ratios of upvotes to downvotes never nuked. I was like 1200/-7. I only downvoted outright shilling or bullshit and they were all from like days 1 and 2 before I knew how the DV system worked here. I respectfully learned and didnt downvote once after that. So I was nuked right when AOU logged into his account at 5 am right when he started commenting and right when he labeled my first thread “fake news.” It wasn’t automatic. It wasn’t algorithm based because I had not downvoted. He wanted me nuked so he clicked a button. If you could see his attitude afterwords you would be even more convinced. He was just straight up trolling and refused to give me an answer. He just kept relying “Lol” over and over. He’s a liar. Sorry to say dude. I’ve never even seen that other admin post once but AOU is a piece of shit liar who blames his behavior on an algorithm. He just doesn’t like people from voat, it’s that simple. Ironically your ratio of upvotes to downvotes was worse than mine and at the time of my nuking I had not made one downvote in days. Do you see how this works yet?
I spent some time looking into it and chatting with a few people. It is not necessarily just misuse / abuse of the down-vote, but voting in general. Gaming the system buy up-voting each other is frowned upon. I'm going to ask for some clarification to the welcome page and/or user guide.
