  • generator, hook up to house $500
  • water tank, water filtration, water pump, hook up to house $400
  • $100 in drinking water jugs (the > 1 gallon kind at the grocery store. with a spout)
  • rice, beans, a little meat, etc. $500

help me out here. I am trying to make sure I can survive if things get bad.

also, i'm thinking of switching to satellite internet. which actually won't be too expensive but it seems like a good point to make.

If you're talking about immediate preps and you haven't even started yet, skip the generator for now, you won't be able to get fuel if SHTF soon anyways. Work on fuel storage later. Get a Berkey water filter and buy as much stable dry goods as you can. I'm assuming you have a least a 12gauge or a handgun.
