help me out here. I am trying to make sure I can survive if things get bad.

There's so much you could get. Do you have rain barrels?

As for food, buy shit you actually eat and rotate it out as you use it. Do you have garden beds? Seeds?

Start going to farmers markets and buying directly from local sources. You want to know your local food producers.

Also, do you have an extra pair of glasses? Up to date with dental work? Stuff like that is important to consider too.

Of course, guns and ammo. There is so much to consider. But getting to know your neighbors, local farmers and larger community is a big part of the process in buildig anti-fragile neighborhoods that can weather the storm.

i don't have rain barrels. i'll look into that.

Tom Woods did a podcast on getting to know local farmers just the other day. It was super boring but I'll try to give it a listen. https://tomwoods.com/ep-1803-small-farms-the-state-the-market-and-you/

Is gardening actually worth it at all? I have a very small front yard. I could buy soil and plant in other parts of the property but I can't imagine growing my own food to really be worth it. I think for me it makes a lot more sense to buy a bunch of food now.

Gardening is not something you will learn overnight but it's a healthy, rewarding hobby that connects you to the land. You get better results every season. I wouldn't rely on gardening to provide all your food, especially if you have a small yard but planting some fruit trees and growing what you can can help supplement your dry food supply and is super rewarding.

Don't waste your money now, load your freezer up. You are very late in the game.

Don't waste my money, load up my freezer. I'm late in the game. This is not advice. It's a lazy comment.

Load up my freezer? You're the self-proclaimed expert and you're telling me to load up my freezer. So much is wrong with that. For one, in a survival situation rice and beans trumps freezer meet. It's cheaper, denser, can survive outside of a freezer (like if the power goes out and I don't "waste my money" on a generator). I could go on and on and on but I won't. You got 4 points for this comment but it's not a good comment.

Ok, here i go. Why have you waited until now, what have you been doing for the past 3 years? Fuel storage for generator? Rice and beans are great, protein for at least a month is necessary! Electricity is a luxury not a requirement you should have had a plan for this! Shelter, Water, food and Defensive Weapons/ Hunting Tools are Required everything else luxury. You can have all the Luxury items you want but without Survival skills you are fucked anyway. Most believe their house is their security, well its false security, one fire and all your supplies are gone! You need to learn to be proactive and you should be fine. Skill set over stockpiling supplies. Good luck but... your Late in the game, good news its never too late to learn.

Don't panic and bite the hand that feeds brother. We are here to help you.

Shit, I thought I was late to the game. Get ur shit together quick son.

bitcoin!? Are you an asshole? worry about food, water, guns, ammo.

Can you survive an entire year on your current food supply? 6 months?

(file too big to upload)

P.S. Not trying to shit on you. It is great that you are having enough forethought about planning for SHTF. just know to get the basics covered first (SOON), then branch out from there. don't panic. sit down. Create a plan of action and execute.

hopefully, these links help. God speed son.

how the fuck do you buy all that with such little money? second hand?

[–] 1 pt

shop around, buy the minimum of what you need, buy secondhand if need be, do it yourself

i would forget bitcoin... it's not tangible and everything is going to be survival mode.

all the water tank, filter, pump and also drip irrigation is the best thing you can get setup.

Cleaning supplies. Paper towels, toilet paper, wet wipes, hand sanitizer (I know, yuck, but if water's in short supply...), portable potty, thermal blankets.

I agree with another poster, beans and rice never made sense to me. Anything you can eat straight from the can, and rotate. Shelf-stable foods. Some are not too bad, tho arguably not real food. Remember pet food, if you have pets. Rope, twine (you never know).

Edit: garbage bags

I'm going to invest mine in hookers n blow

[–] 1 pt

Want to combine funds? Imagine, 4000 in Hookers and Blow

My parents were never big on teaching me how to share

[–] 2 pts

Fine then. I hope your hooker turns out to be a Nigger and you're blow is foot powder!

[–] 0 pt

That's probably a better investment than leaving it in US Dollars.

I have guns and know where preppers live. Im set

[–] 5 pts

So your immediate go-to is looting from those who planned ahead? Are you a nigger?

[–] [deleted] -1 pt

Lol fuck you. Ill take your shit too

[–] 4 pts

Ok nigger.

If you're talking about immediate preps and you haven't even started yet, skip the generator for now, you won't be able to get fuel if SHTF soon anyways. Work on fuel storage later. Get a Berkey water filter and buy as much stable dry goods as you can. I'm assuming you have a least a 12gauge or a handgun.

So tired of these sorts of questions from those who think they can just stick a couple bags of beans and some ammo in a closet and be ready for what's coming. Long term survival isn't found in stockpiling items like you own a warehouse, and even then that just makes you a target. Stockpiles are only for short-term incidents. You can't just buy your way out when it comes to long term survival. Long term survival is found in knowledge, and preparation. It's far too late to bug out to the mountains when SHTF, as you are not likely to make it there, and those who live there aren't going to be very tolerant of you.

Learn to garden, learn skills, make friends with your neighbors and work with them for the betterment of the group. Real long term survival is much more "Little House on the Prairie" than "Day Z". Those who think they will just stock up on guns and ammo and take what they want from others will be the first to go, followed by those who think they will just buy their way out of trouble not too long after.

Do you know how to grow a garden, butcher an animal, can food, purify drinking water, basic sanitation? The list goes on. How about advanced long term sanitation? Do you know how to build and maintain an outhouse? Drill a well? Do you even have a hand pump to run that well when there is no power? What's the nearest water source to you? How is it contaminated? These days it's not a matter of if, but what. What happens if someone gets sick or injured? Do you have a skill that you can use for trade when there is no power or other modern conveniences, like blacksmithing, hand woodworking/carpentry, natural medicine, etc.?

Take a look at real disasters, and learn from them. When the power goes out, the first thing to disappear is gasoline. The gas pumps don't work now, all those people who thought they'd just get by on a generator now can't fuel it after day 3, or even sooner, with only a few rare people who had extras gas for whatever reason going beyond that. What fuel is left goes to the government, along with any resupply. Generators are noisy, too, so now who is going to be a target for looters and other degenerates, or the desperate?

Just going to bug out? Sorry, the first thing the government does when SHTF is to lock down all travel. No one goes in or out. Get caught with any sort of firearm at a checkpoint, guess what happens. Let alone all those stocks of valuable supplies, they'll get taken from you at gunpoint "on behalf of the people". Or you'll be accused of being a looter, and worse will happen. If by some miracle you do manage to escape the nightmare zone (NZ), now what? The people in the outlying areas are on full alert, and having already dealt with the looters and degenerates coming out of the NZ, aren't going to want you around either. They don't know you, and they don't trust you, and rightly so. How much gas do you have? Can you get more? (Not likely) Guess what! There will be a secondary set of roadblocks and checkpoints about 5 to 10 miles outside the NZ to catch people like you, and prevent movement into the NZ. Here we go again......

That's just for a localized natural or other disaster. What do you do when the whole country is the NZ? We are currently on the verge of a communist seizure of power and unorganized Balkans style civil war. All patriots will be forced to live as outlaws, and the whole country could be a war zone. Good luck with your bag of beans.

Good luck hunting and butchering your own food and growing your own crops.

[–] 0 pt

Thanks, but it's over 50 years of living in the back woods and being self-sufficient. It's knowledge, skill, and experience, not luck.

A few check point officers accidentally get holes in them they'll run out of volunteers for check points right quick
