Truth.

People tend to forget that "round" was used as a bartering tool , for gold diggers who hadn't hit (found anything) they could exchange a round of ammo for a small glass of whiskey.

More people should barter and exchange without using the debt slips. I do it all the time with my neighbors (they all grow various fruits/vegetables as do I) I haven't bought a single pear, apple, or plum in 30 years. We have 5 tier shelving units in the basement that are full of preserves and jellies. (among other things). We always save the seeds and dry them out , plant indoors, and then give the seedlings back to our neighbors in the springtime. Its more fun than watching the idiot box or staring at a "device" not to mention you save a fortune.

(also, we do this for flowers as well. I find it sad that so many people just throw away so many flowers when they've "died" …I started my landscaping using seeds form the compost people just dumped. What they pay 18 bucks a basket for , I pay nothing and I never do :)

Do you use wax on top of your preserves and jellies or is canning good enough?

Just the hot water bath. Its never been an issue for us. The effort we put in the fall pays off 10 times over year round. I highly recommend. Even if you are in a concrete hell hole. Order crates of produce online , have it delivered, set up a couple tables and a weekend and you and your wife should go to work.
