Here I am, a VOAT refugee enjoying the resources of POAL.

I've got some friends from VOAT over here already, and I'd like to be able to contact them directly.

Is this an option that I have that I simply haven't found yet? Or is it an option that I have to earn through posting and such?

this may depend on your user level, i see a send message to user when i click on your profile but you may need user level 2 for that

You can't send PM if you have an Israeli IP. Otherwise just go to the user's page you want to contact.
