So if some idiot is sitting infront of you at the lights as it's turned green and they are clearly not paying attention and holding you up you wont honk them to get them moving and risk you and everyone else missing the green light entirely out of some arbitrary principle?

The OP CLEARLY is talking about using a car horn to tell people off or to show that you're pissed off about them driving gayly. I said I don't use it like that, and only use it to alert other drivers, which COMMON SENSICALLY includes if they're not paying attention at a light or whatnot. Yes sure, I'm sure I've given a tiny blip on the horn to let someone know it's green.
