I didn't design it.
If I was going to make changes, I'd have one of two solutions:
Just give the autists what they want in the form of a downvote button and numbers, but not have it actually affect the position of a comment or post in the chain in any way.
Or get rid of both upvotes and downvotes entirely, and go oldschool. Posts and comments stand on their own, no Instagram popularity faggotry or groupthink.
