Couldn't you just get a monitor and some speakers? Most of those serve one simple function with none of the bullshit.

This is the best answer. Get a ASUS or LG monitor.

Anything that has a speaker in it can be used as a microphone.

I don't need a speaker. Just a 4k 120hz high-end OLED display over 55" for a business application.

Look at different models of TVs or monitors, and see if they're easy to take apart and disable the speakers and whatnot.

I don't think you understand.

You've just suggested the equivalent of disassembling a few screwdrivers to see which one holds up well enough to be the right tool.

I just need a 55" OLED 120hz monitor for a business application. That's it. I don't have time to reverse engineer a few TV's to figure out which one can be neutered.

Ya'll are hilarious sometimes.

Buy a used 1080p plasma. If you buy a late model high-end one it will be better than any 4K LCD set ever made and you only pay a couple hundred bucks for it, maybe less.

Maybe.

Get one of those stinky thrift store ones.

Even modern projectors (digital) have microphones built in. All digital monitors built since 2002 and imported since 2003 are compromised. The trick is to not have an IP or internet connection through the power grid. If you think off line servers can not be hacked through USP (Battery with Networking for monitoring the power) and/or "any" grid power then you are in for a rude surprise. They don't even need a "smart meter" for most routers and network capable devices. All one needs is the Mac address with the IP and the device can be remote controlled. Disabling the built in microphone (a simple transistor) will disable all modern video chips, even before 2001. Almost like they already knew this would be tried.

Yes, just buy a used one.

HATE giving money to best buy BUT:

Go to best buy

Look for NON-smart tvs (no wifi or ethernet)

Buy 48inch 1080p screen for $148.

Use HDMI to hook up to computer

You're welcome.

Best buy thinks NON-smart tvs are worthless and they have warehouses full of them and are trying to get out from under them for $20-$30 profit.

Go get yourself a dumb tv.

Cheaper ones, yes. If there are no logos for Netflix, Hulu etc. you're probably good. If the word "smart" appears in the box, don't buy it. Ditto if it says anything about wifi. Check Wal-Mart, the shit they have on an end cap and not the wall of TVs is probably what you're looking for.
