While camping in Vermont, my friends and I saw several lights zig zag back and forth across the sky (nighttime). They looked like stars and would move slowly in one direction, pause, turn at a sharp angle and continue. They did this erratically until an actual plane floated past, then they all turned in the direction of the plane and followed it briefly. Another time I was with the same friends in CT. We went on a walk through a forest at night to smoke a spliff. At one point we reached a large field and stood somewhat in the middle of it, it was night but our eyes had adjusted so you coud see the surrounding area pretty well. Again, we saw those strange lights in the sky. We stood there looking at them when suddenly the entire field briefly lit up as if someone used a flash camera. But the field was 1/2 the size of a football field. We all agreed that there were 2 lights and the source came from just above the tops of the very tall trees. A white and red light. We booked it out of there pretty quickly.
