I lived in a troubled house when I was young. The place had a strange feel to it, cold and unnerving was the general consensus. At the time my family were pretty screwed up too. Always fighting and arguing. Strange noises or voices were heard, lights would go on and off, things moved etc.
Around that time we played around with Ouija boards made from cut out letters on a mirror and a glass to move to them. Sometimes me or one of the others was moving the glass for sure, sometimes we all seemed genuinely surprised. Anyway it was just kids playing around.
One night when I was nearly thirteen years old I had two friends staying over and we were up late talking in the living room. I was seated by a fireplace drinking orange juice from a glass tankard mug. When I finished I put the glass down on the tiles surrounding the fireplace and it immediately fell over. So I stood it up and it fell over again.
I remember feeling that it was unlikely that I had knocked it the first time and I was positive I hadn't the second time. When I stood it up the third time I crossed the room to where my friends where sitting and sat down looking at the glass and said to my friends "watch this". The glass fell over again and moved on its side across the tiles to the boarder which it slid over and moved itself fully onto the carpet towards me.
Once again I replaced the glass on the tiles, sat back on the sofa looking at the glass and said "if there is anyone there that wants to talk to anyone here, tap the glass" (as you do). The glass lifted on it's edge and tapped back down.
We communicated with the glass that way from about 11:30pm to 2:30am. Asking it all manner of questions with the glass responding with one tap for yes or two for no. The glass also seemed to have emotion in the way it responded.
For example at one point some cats started fighting outside and the glass become very animated. It actually levitated off the ground and banged (or rattled) rapidly from edge to edge while the cats were fighting or screaming.
At some point we were on the subject of war (we had recently watched a war movie so it was in our mind) and the glass tapped out a military drum beat over and over and was again very animated.
We asked several times if we could wake up one of the other members of the house that were asleep so that they could bear witness. Eventually it said yes, and we asked which one and it indicated my sister (She had had several experiences of her own including, hearing a woman's voice, seeing an object move and feeling someone sitting on the edge of her bed).
It was about 1:30am when we got my sister up and brought her into the room. She was accompanied by our dog who fell asleep on her legs the moment she was comfortable and remained asleep. Once we were all seated again I said "when you are ready tap the glass" and off we went again. My sister was surprised but settled into it pretty quickly as we had.
Eventually the glass became less inclined to respond and finished by filling with condensation from bottom to top so I took the glass outside and smashed it in the gutter. That was it.
I lost contact with the friends I was with that night although I heard from friends that one of them claimed he had the glass on a string the whole time which is impossible. I was the only person that had any contact with the glass and there was no string plus the way the glass moved you would have needed to have it on several, from above, like a puppet. The other friend that was there dropped in on me out of the blue after having had no contact for 20 years and we reminisced about the experience over a coffee. It was good to have someone other than my sister validate the story to my wife. He also commented that there was so much violence around me then. That was true too. It was a very bad time in my life.
