Both load the article completely in expando properly for me.
Going to the site directly does show that I need to sign up to continue reading as shown in your image.
The archive link is appreciated and preferred and it also displays the page contents more ideally for me.

I don't go to any link shared here directly anyway and always run it through archive first and then view the archive. So direct links actually discourage me from reading the article as I need to spend time archiving it first and I won't bother doing that and will skip the article entirely if it's barely of interest.

I confirmed Brave allows the expando to load for the live link, but had holes where I assume there are ads (I never see ads) whereas the archived version is more clean (no holes).

Must be the security in my browser blocking the iframe for tracking attempts on the first one.
