Because they are either in between wigs or didnt want to do the work to put the wig on that day. They wear straight haired wigs so they can look like they have hair like white people. They wear the cap to cover their weird hair that is normally under the wig.
I wasn't aware that so many wore wigs. I've heard the phrase "weaving". Is that basically what that is? I thought they were just extensions.
If you ever see one with straight hair - its a wig.
Then how do they wash it?
No its an actual full on wig over a cap. Look up youtube videos about "caring for an african wig" etc. You'll see.
