For the year I've been on Poal, I have noticed that most posts that get comments have just one sentence comments and sometimes they're not even complete sentences. This makes the engagement seem very low energy. Why isn't there more in depth commentary and discussion?

I wasn’t referring to that specifically. If you’re a 40something female on voat you will be called a roast beef curtains post wall hag nigger cock rider on a daily basis. Unless you perpetually genuflect to the misogyny which I obviously don’t. I hate to throw the M word around but it can be pretty bad.

I cracked up at this. Are you missing Voat yet?

There are a couple of things that stand out to me. First, you were probably the only woman on Voat that was honest about being a woman while also being totally willing to engage with everyone in argument indiscriminately. That's already guaranteeing you're going to catch shit. 90% of Voat consisted of guys who'd likely been members of some MGTOW sub on Reddit previously. The other exception might have been Gothamgirl, but based on the little bit I saw from her, eh, whatever.

Second, I don't like the M-word either, but it's mostly due to the fact that it was overused to the extent of becoming senseless. But misogyny is misogyny. There were several times that I noticed threads (back at Voat) where some dickhead was bombarding you. You're not exaggerating at all when you say it was bad. The first sign of disagreement from a woman, and these guys would just unload like they were arguing with the shadow of their mother or some past girlfriend that fucked around on them.

A couple times I wanted to jump in and go to war, but I thought to myself, "She'd probably get pissed at me and say she could fight her own battles." Incidentally, I think you can, and it didn't really have anything to do with you being a woman, but I'd be lying if I said there wasn't some component that had to do with my anger at the fact some of these guys were obviously just dying to go to town insulting a woman. I don't fawn over women one bit, but I also don't have a fucking script ready for when one disagrees with me.
