For the year I've been on Poal, I have noticed that most posts that get comments have just one sentence comments and sometimes they're not even complete sentences. This makes the engagement seem very low energy. Why isn't there more in depth commentary and discussion?

It really just depends on where the person is and if the posting they've made requires more than one line of reply. For example, this reply will probably run to several lines, but it's really actually quite unnecessary for it to do so because what I'm talking about really has no bearing on the conversation and just serves to pad out the posting. Other things you could note is that some posters here don't have much to say, and a few of them are incapable of constructing a complete thought - that leads them to just put down a few words. I hope that I've been able to clear up some of the misunderstanding about what gets written here in comments, otherwise please feel free to ask any questions you want and I'll be more than happy to try and find the information that you've requested. If I can't find that information I will try to redirect you to a source that may have it, or someone else here may be able to give you that information. Batteries, of course, are not included and this posting is void where prohibited by law. Cash value is 1/10th of 1 cent.

That's how I used to answer essay questions! Worked most of the time. Teachers were so dumb.

It's where I leaned how to do that.

I thank you for taking the time to actually put more thought into your commentary on this subject. While you state it was quite unnecessary to add so much, it does make a difference. For places like Poal and Voat that support free speech, that only works if speech is actually used. This very post has been mostly one-liner or short replies until yours which just proved my point that discussion is not the norm on Poal. Even in more niche subs where people allegedly subscribe because they have a domain interest in that topic we see this same lack of dialog and depth of discussion. It's very weird to me since all the other sites I have been a part of fostered discussion, especially in the narrow interest subs. I miss that here.

Anyway, thanks again for the more in depth response to my question. It feels more normal than the one-liners.

>Flagged for low effort and lack of detail. You're one line too short, bucko.
