For the year I've been on Poal, I have noticed that most posts that get comments have just one sentence comments and sometimes they're not even complete sentences. This makes the engagement seem very low energy. Why isn't there more in depth commentary and discussion?

I could say that compared to Voat, Poal is run by a bunch of Reddit tier low effort niggers. But that would be completely hypocritical because I am mainly a shit posting imbecile. My daughter does this all the time, "Dad I want to have a conversation." "Okay, what do you want to talk about?" "I don't know," she replies "I just want to talk." I really don't know what to do with that so I start in on the holocaust and she leaves me alone.

I believe you are correct in your assessment. The effort seems low and the shitpost method rules here. I do my share of shitposting too, but I also engage in deeper discussion, especially when I have knowledge of the topic or interest. I will take the time to share that knowledge if I believe it will help someone and I enjoy doing it. I don't really find many opportunities to do so on Poal because it doesn't seem to be appreciated by most users. Sad.

Hopefully one day your daughter will appreciate your holohoax talks and understand the importance of knowing. Keep it up, Goat.

We are on phones.

This line makes it a two-liner!

Brevity is the soul of wit

The posts he is referring to definitely aren't wit. They are just trash submissions with no real purpose.

They disabled downvoats which makes the angry beta males get into hissy fits in comments vs manly downvoating and moving on. Sorry but Voat was better.

You can still downvote, but it's set so if you're a serial downvoter it counts against you.

I've downvoted a few posts in my time here, but not many.

Upvotes still push them down.

Some posts dont require more than a one liner. Most post make me have a thought and sometimes I sharr my thought. If a post makes me think ill usually engage more with it and make a longer response. Its great if you have the time but most people browse this site(and others) in a small section of time. Most people aren't going to read a wall of text but they will read a quick quip. It knowing your audience. Not to say we cant have meaningful discussions, just not every time.

It really just depends on where the person is and if the posting they've made requires more than one line of reply. For example, this reply will probably run to several lines, but it's really actually quite unnecessary for it to do so because what I'm talking about really has no bearing on the conversation and just serves to pad out the posting. Other things you could note is that some posters here don't have much to say, and a few of them are incapable of constructing a complete thought - that leads them to just put down a few words. I hope that I've been able to clear up some of the misunderstanding about what gets written here in comments, otherwise please feel free to ask any questions you want and I'll be more than happy to try and find the information that you've requested. If I can't find that information I will try to redirect you to a source that may have it, or someone else here may be able to give you that information. Batteries, of course, are not included and this posting is void where prohibited by law. Cash value is 1/10th of 1 cent.

That's how I used to answer essay questions! Worked most of the time. Teachers were so dumb.

It's where I leaned how to do that.

I thank you for taking the time to actually put more thought into your commentary on this subject. While you state it was quite unnecessary to add so much, it does make a difference. For places like Poal and Voat that support free speech, that only works if speech is actually used. This very post has been mostly one-liner or short replies until yours which just proved my point that discussion is not the norm on Poal. Even in more niche subs where people allegedly subscribe because they have a domain interest in that topic we see this same lack of dialog and depth of discussion. It's very weird to me since all the other sites I have been a part of fostered discussion, especially in the narrow interest subs. I miss that here.

Anyway, thanks again for the more in depth response to my question. It feels more normal than the one-liners.

>Flagged for low effort and lack of detail. You're one line too short, bucko.

You're different. You always have been, dammit.

But you're a world away.

Oh come on. “Bitter post wall roasties” must be a dime a dozen— they’re always railing about them here.

I may be misremembering. But didn’t you say you are from an area know for its spam?
