I spent over 5 years at Voat, only to have it pulled out from under me. I watched as some in the voat community were absolutely horrible to Reddit refugees, now here we are, refugees.

Nope. Between Azure and Cloudflare it was costing 20K+ per month to keep VOAT running. And a previous attempt at fundraising had only moderate success, not enough to keep it running for more than a few months.

I saw the claim made on Ruqqus that Putt had a couple million stashed away and could easily fund the site. Total BS.

$20k/yr sounds about right for a site like voat. Not that I havn't seen people pay $20k/mo, for less. If that's really what putt was paying, then it makes sense that the angel pulled out and no one would finance his train wreck.
