Not really abandoned so much as stopped participating because we had a group come along and squat on the site and decide they would dictate what was allowed to be posted. Instead of hiding subs they didn't want to see, they threw site wide hissy fits and organized raiding efforts whenever another group would come along that threatened to out-post them. Suddenly free speech was thrown out the window because "They're sliding the forum!" This is part of the reason why the Q posters were hated so much, because they were so active. They were able to survive on the site because they had a large enough userbase to resist the efforts against them. This killed any chance Voat had of developing niche subs that people could use to get away from the prevailing narrative of the site. Basically, if you didn't want to bitch about jews and niggers all day there was barely anything to do on Voat because the people who do bitch about jews and niggers all day wouldn't let anyone talk about anything else. I checked my inbox once every 2-3 days in case there were any bug reports of the bot doing weird things or feature requests that I found interesting, but there wasn't much on the site itself that made me want to browse it anymore.
