Great reply, I totally agree that the textbook definition of transhumanism (whether cybernetic or genetic) does seem to apply to the rights concept of self improvement, only I feel staunch traditionalists and humancentrics(purists)would see both as a form of cheating, or shortcut. I suppose it comes down to how said technologies are used, to better mankind or to oppress it, that determines which side of the political/social dichotomy transhumanism is situated on.
