As a mechanic, that's not the most absurd false claim I've read regarding repairs. The truth of the matter is that your general repair shop might not have specific tools or equipment simply because the cost isn't justified as they don't see enough of that make/model of car which would require it. It's the main reason I hate luxury model cars, especially German automobiles.
