Complete bullshit, even cars with "fancy computers" can be repaired by normal mechanics, snapon provides most of the tools to even do firmware upgrades. All the mechanical components are almost the same as cars from the 2000s. Big one to watch out for is the changes to the charging system but even that once understood can be worked on by a back yard mechanic.
Can you link me some stuff to read up on this? I'm looking to learn more about car repair in general.
Honestly I probably could but I learned it from doing it, I worked as a mechanic for a while. I'd say youtube is your best friend, also if you can get a mechanic to let you look at alldata you will be doing good. Alldata is the service guide that tells mechanics how to do everything and how long it should take. It is however behind a paywall. so make friends with a mechanic and you can learn everything you need to.
I will definitely keep this in mind, thanks
