What I do know is, if he was murdered, it was definitely for exposing the moon landing hoax in The Shining :).

(For anybody with the interest and the time, a guy named Rob Agar has a Youtube channel called Collative Learning with some really interesting Kubrick analyses; whether you agree with him or not, they're well done.)

I'll always believe that despite what "reputable sources" say, Warner did in fact modify the footage. Wheter he got killed or not, he probably knew it was one of his last films, and given the creative freedom he had, i find it hard to believe one of the cinema masterminds settled for that final product.
