One of the comments I saw told me how to disable the snow effect, is there any other useful things that someone coming from Voat should know? Is there a sort submissions by date feature? Like day, month, year? Also, I like the custom captchas, anonymous registration and the fact that admin seem receptive to more users.

Enter "Christmas" into Global CSS settings

Edit: Use night mode while this is enabled.

Night mode. It's the little moon icon on the dropdown afrer you click your own username.
