An insect brain is almost certainly not complex enough to have any sense of self awareness, i mean i could be wrong, im not an entomologist, but insects are just little biological based robots with self preservation (to an extent) programming.

I've thought and read about this quite a bit. The NPC meme is pure genius. Here's a few reasons why:
As others said, it is spot on. A whole "mob" of people who do nothing but cycle through simple logic loops with predictable outputs.
Inputs include predictable logic loops from "media" like comedians, vox, gawker etc. Orange man bad.
If / when they respond with rage to the meme, they will pull out one of those included in above logic loops, thereby reinforcing the meme. There is almost nothing they can say in defense of themselves that cannot be immediately countered with ANOTHER NPC meme.
Why? Because the majority of libtards I've seen don't really critically think. They just spout the shit they are fed, often without even adding any of their own twist or spice to it.
So they end up responding exactly the way they are depicted in the NPC meme which takes their "voice" away. And in the end, that is what they are all about. Look how fucking special I am!!!! Look how I respect womyn/tardz/coloreds/muskies/lgbtqtard/etc. Without that voice and recognition of how fucking special they are, they lose the reason they are rage responding in the first place. Just shuts them down.
