I'm no expert, just have a passionate interest in a subject like many do.
There are even some songs that I enjoy when I really disagree with the lyrical content and/or the intent of the artist in writing them. Some songs it's the sound of the vocals more than the words said, voice as an instrument.
Voice is an instrument I would agree with once upon a time I was a pretty good singer. It was my instrument then I got older and now I'm still trying to learn to play another.
Just off the top of my head I would put forth Robert Plant or Steven Tyler as an example. It's not only the technical abilities but the phrasing and emotional impact as a melodic component.
You should stop by the FNGT again. I'm sure you would get lots of encouragement and appreciation for sharing your music. I have to admit it has declined in participation lately, mainly due to the quality of the people on Voat in general, but we refuse to let them ruin the joy of music.
Hope your life is going well.
I really do keep meaning to stop by, its been a hell of a year for me. Things are looking way way up though bumps along the road but I'm keeping it together. Finally found some gainful employment but I probably will lose my house which sucks, but worse things have happened to better people than me.
Other than that life is good.
