I am actually curious, because i hear this a lot. People using Pi for emulation and thinking its some awesome thing. What makes that any different or better than the emulation thats available on any other standard computer? Ive been emulating since my teens, on a standard desktop computer. But the way people that do these raspberry pi things talk, you'd think emulators were a new thing

You can throw it on a tv and sit on the couch and if that tv and couch is no good, put it in your pocket and break into somebodys house and use their couch and tv. Also the price and east of use once you get it going. Oh also the power savings as well.

As though a desktop tower is an immovable obelisk? That cant be connected to a tv, or a large monitor? Are the days of getting together for LAN parties really so forgotten? Does the emulator Pi do anything besides being an emulator? A standard desktop emulates and plays regular games, and does actual useful stuff also...

Stinks of just a cheap fad for fake nerds to me. I mean shit, my cell phone runs emulators to, can be hooked or smartcast to a tv, and is always in my pocket. Plus it doesn everything else a regular computer does too for the most part. Plus I already paid for it for the whole phone part.

Idk. I probably just dont get it

not for everyone, I use real hardware. They aren't even good for electronics projects. I have two and one is setup with exodus so my wife can watch retarded TV shows and the other has a gopher server running as well as the bbs I am working on setting up. They only do one channel pulse width modulation and it is bit banged so they can't even control motors correct. I use arduinos or just design analog circuitry.

Install raspbian and enjoy a power saving computer for basic tasks.
