When I have an image already on a URL is it better to provide the web url to copy the pic is downloading or copy/pasting the image better?

I have noticed that copy/pasted images seem to end up as png files while web urls seem to be jpeg files, is that better if the file is shorter?

I used to run pic8. Then I lost my virginity and lost interest. I gave it to but I believe he traded it to for some cement work.
