Well in the book it wasnt like later, as he is going thru the house he says he petted Dog again. Not like he petted him yesterday. If Im walking past my dog I would say i pet him.

Also kinda sounds like shit. Something about the progression of the phonemes is really off. Try saying it is slow motion, and think about where your tongue is at every step of the process. It is a really awkward, jerky motion from behind you top incisors to the bottom of your pallet.
