I'm prone to migraines and caffeine is one of the triggers. I'll drink tea and even a soda sometimes but I have to do certain things afterward to make sure it doesn't turn into a migraine.
Honestly, It is kind of strange watching the entire country get buzzed all around me, all the time...and nobody thinks anything of it...an entire society running off an upper. I've actually brought it up in a job interview as a disadvantage I face compared to co-workers (it worked).
Wow thats extremely smart to use it like that. Sucks that you get migraines though I've heard that those are a fucking nightmare.
The worst of them came when I was working on my MA Sometimes it came with seizure activity, sometimes they'd last for weeks..sometimes they'd be so intense I couldn't open my eyes or speak..just lay in a dark room cursing my own brain. My neuoro was med happy and refused to consider that her cocktail simply wasn't working. I think I was taking 5-7 different pills regularly to try and just keep them from happening...and it wasnt working.
I started to get some weird side effects....like dust in my pee & suicidal idolization. It was fucking scary and my doctor wasn't getting it.
Finally, a friend convinced me to get my medical marijuana card. That changed everything. I went from a bunch of pills to just one (seizure control) and replaced everything else with marijuana. I still get them but not nearly as often and not nearly as painful. And when I do get them, either an infused oil or smoking a joint will make it ok.
Well I'm glad you found a solution to manage them that sounds like it would be hell to live through.
I have a possible solution for you if you are brave enough to try. It is possible the caffeine is increasing your blood pressure to where you are getting the symptoms. I had a period in my life where I was very exhausted and the regular coffee dose would not do enough to get me out of it. And basically the L-theanine counteracts some of the bad effects of caffeine. Example I could drink 5 cups before and then would get the shakes / headaches etc. With L-theanine could get 8-10 cups before same side effects, but still getting the increased alertness etc. equal to 8-10 cups.

The problem is that it's not just caffeine that I have to regulate. Too much sugar, a few days without enough sleep, a heightened level of stress, wine & liquor are some of the big ones.
I never really drank coffee anyway so I'm not really missing it at this point. If I really want a caffeine pick-me-up, a can of soda or even one of those pure leaf teas is enough to wire me well into the night. But if I do that for more than three days straight, I start to have issues. Combine that with not enough sleep, and I'll feel like shit.
