To me, friends are people with similar interests and values that share a mutual amount of respect and trust.
It was obvious to me at one point that a group of people were not my friends when they openly began attacking me instead of a debate topic over a difference of opinion. I stuck to the topic, but eventually got dogpiled by insults from this small group. I didn't detest them because they couldn't debate. It was because they apparently thought all of those things about me, for a while, judging the volume, and I had never thought anything like that about them until they started acting like a bunch of dumb niggers. So, without mutual respect, that set of friendships was over.
