Sometimes I up-poal because I just want more people to see it.
Usually I make an endless scroll session upvoting headlines dealing with topics I need to know more about/find interesting, but the headline itself has to be informative enough too. A vague reference with "click me to know more" type of stuff is a huge turn off, I usually skip, headline also has to be informative to the max, so even if I don't have time to actually read the article "I've seen the memo", I know it's "something going on about that right now and it goes that way it seems". Also, when it makes me laugh it's also a reason to upvote the said headline. If all the reasons mentioned for an upvote are combined it's better of course, and when it's the case that's usually the article I read right away.
Then when I'm done with my upvote binge/infinite scrolldown, I usually go back checking stuffs I remember/stuffs that stick on my mind, like "oh yeah, that stuff... What about it...", and eventually downvote remove my upvote when content doesn't deliver
Also, when there are comments on articles, that's those I click right away too, to check the comments because it usually gives micro run downs and quotes, and quick analysis right away
All that being said, the new "Content or Context" feature is great, it usually massively increases post quality/accuracy regarding headlines. Because there isn't 72 hours in a day, update on daily shit has to go fast
Ideally, both.
should there be a 5star rating for votes? eg. if you really liked it you give a star, but, if you really, really, really, really, really liked it you would give a 5star rating? :)
