Homebrew, costs next to nothing.
From my experience it costs more unless you buy everything in bulk and malt your own grains and the process can be very labor intensive. But that mostly applies to brewing beer. Making your own wine can be pretty cheap. But that is still dependent on the quality of the products used, and the amount of time spent. Overall, you home brew because you like the hobby, not to save money.
Distillation is where it's at.
Distillation is also a federal crime. Even freeze concentration is illegal. I prefer to keep my operations legal, even if there is an almost 0% chance of getting caught. One mistake and I could lose my kids. No thanks.
