I am starting to believe that alcohol is the only reason we have civilization. All those animal compulsions wound tight and repressed to function in society so we need an outlet that lets us vent in a somewhat acceptable manner.

We cant really put a normal level of expectation on a drunk persons actions. There is still responsibility but to a differing degree.

My experience has met tons of functional drunks in construction. The addicts steal shit and disappear often.

Drunks are addicts, and they don't steal shit and disappear because they never showed up to start with or passed out somewhere and werent conscious to do any stealing. Its passive stealing, stealing by being a counterproductive turd.

Uhm, no im not? Sounds a lot like you have a drinking problem and think theres nothing wrong with it. Drunks are hands down worse than stoners. Drunks are just about equal to tweakers and crackheads, just as worthless and untrustworthy. But drunks have somehow managed to remove the stigma and turned it into a "oh its ok, hes just drunk" no, its not okay, not anymore than "oh its ok, hes just tweakin".
